I agree that there is nothing wrong with the toilet. It is mind boggling to me that there is this much controversy over this. Just hold the handle a second longer and there is no problem. Mine works great.

I have an older off brand 3/4 (water saver) flush toilet, never done any repairs 15 years, the American Standard is a piece of expensive junk we have had to replace the flush valve/washer twice in the last two years and leaks constantly! I always have to flush it at least twice when there is Biden in it, so am I "saving water", I don't think so. But on a positive side this seems to do the trick, but this is last high dollar toilet I ever buy!

There isn't a problem with the Champion toilet, it's the people flushing them. All that's needed is a split second of patience. When you flush hold the lever down for a split second before releasing hand pressure. In the video he lets go too fast before the water can leave the tank. These toilets cut my water bill by 40%, this "fix" will not help you.

This worked for me! I turned a/c and breaker off, reached up from inside and wiggled all the cords. Turned it back on and could hear it kick on. So happy!! Thank you!

Thanks so much for this fix. Will do this change to two Champions I just had installed. They flush good but they do need a bit more help from a good boost of an extra water push.

My control panel lights up but when I press the buttons, nothing happens and nothing changes. I have a older norcold N510. it wasn't cooling so I moved the sensor up on the fin inside. Now it's too cold. Fridge 29° freezer 7°

Mine was used almost a year so the plastic was stiffer & I had to use the point of a pocket knife to shimmy in under the red ring to get it popped off the stupid “stops” to be able to move it! 🙄 Now: What’s the 3 adjustments on top? If I put the chain on 1, instead of how it comes from the factory on 3, does that also prolong the flush???

Thank you for posting this video. After 6 years my 1.6 gallon flush started having incomplete flushes so I bought an adjustable flapper which had a dial from 1 to 10 and I tried every setting and still had incomplete flushes. I added 1/4 inch to the stand pipe and that fixed the problem.

May God have mercy on the soul of the engineer(s) who designed the monstrosity that is the fluid master model 540 flapper valve I have never seen something so overly designed and complicated aaaand non functioning in all my years of repairing, replacing, and installing toilets. The fact that these valves have been added to low volume toilets from American Standard which are absolute pieces of junk makes the effects of this horrible product even worse. How does a low flow toilet help the environment when you have to flush it three times 3.72 gallons total to do what a 1.6 gallon toilet to dispose even a moderate sized duece with a light wipe. That’s about all I have to that……Arrggghhhhh!!

What is the purpose of the 3 different chain connection points on top of the flapper? With my Fluidmaster 540 set on 10, a 1/2" of slack in the chain when closed, and the chain attached to the connection closest to the overflow tube, the flapper still slams shut before the tank empties into the bowl thus giving an unsatisfactory flush. I noticed in the video something surrounding the chain near the flapper. Was this some sort of float and would a float help to keep the flapper open longer?

Maybe they changed it because the one I just bought does not require taking apart to adjust--super easy... came set to 10 with a chart of usual settings for different toilets and directions on how to adjust for best efficiency...
